Officials rescued the woman, who suffered minor injuries, without airlifting her out of the ravine.

But the horse proved to be a more difficult challenge.

The horse was sedated and blindfolded before crews brought in the rescue chopper to hoist it out of the ravine.

Video of the horse showed a helicopter safely placing it back on flat ground. The horse appeared agitated as rescue crews tried to calm it.

Officials said they believe the horse was not seriously injured in the fall.

The woman riding the horse was not identified.
