Mount Mount, probably from a horse harness, of barbed quatrefoil form. The mount is decorated with the royal arms of England of around 1340-1405 (three lions passant guardant quartered with France ancient (field semy of fleurs-de-lis)). There is a loop on the back for fixing. Originally a knight carried a shield decorated with a family design so that he could be recognised in battle.
